Welcome, Wendy!

The ShadeLab welcomes to the team Dr. Wendy F. Smythe.

Wendy comes to the ShadeLab as a post-doctoral research fellow affiliated with BEACON Center for the Study of Evolution in Action. She is an environmental scientist with a focus in geomicrobiology, biomineralization, and biogeochemistry. Through BEACON, Wendy directs half of her efforts towards education and outreach initiatives, and the other half towards her independent research in environmental microbiology. She hopes to develop skills in metagenome analysis, and offers insights into the microbiology of thermophilic environments because she studies hot springs in Yellow Stone National Park. We're excited to have her join our team!
