ShadeLab Ph.D. grad John Chodkowski is at it again with the public release of his final chapter of his dissertation work to understand the ecology bacterial interactions that are driven by exometabolites. In his new piece, he performs a co-evolution experiment and comparative genome analysis between two co-evolved environmental bacterial strains to understand how parallel mutations that lead to similar mechanisms of antibiotic resistance can evolve in the sensitive strain.
