ShadeLab's DEI Statement

In light of recent events - #BlackLivesMatter and the racial injustice and inequities yet again laid bare, raw, by the killing of George Floyd - ShadeLab has together decided to draft a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion statement that puts forward our collective values and actions. We met on July 2 to draft the document collectively and discuss its elements, and now we release it publicly on our website.

We know that this is a small step and that it is inadequate given the larger challenges we face as a community and as global citizens. It is in solidarity and in support of larger efforts that we created this document so that we could clearly express to our peers and colleagues that we stand with the values of diversity, equity and inclusion.

This is intended to be a living document and to initiate ongoing conversation.

Our message, in brief: You are welcome. We will be the change we want to see in the world.
