Graduate student Taylor Dunivin is representing the ShadeLab today at the annual meeting of the Ecological Society of America, Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. The ShadeLab was invited to speak in an organized session about the microbial ecology of terrestrial-aquatic interfaces. Particularly, we were asked to discuss the role of conditionally rare microbes for interface dynamics. Taylor is presenting on rare taxa, and also offering a sneak preview of her latest work and thinking concerning the role of specialized stress responses and rarity for determining community robustness to disturbances.
