ShadeLab is happy to announce a new collaboration with the Joint Genome Institute (@doe_jgi) to understand the exometabolite interactions among three common soil bacteria using our new synthetic community ("SynCom") system. Graduate student John Chodkowski has been optimizing the SynCom design since he joined the lab last spring, and was instrumental in working with Ashley to prepare the Community Science Project Proposal. The award will provide JGI services in exometabolite, RNAseq, and genome sequencing for a time series design to understand changes in microbial interactions over stationary phase.
