Shout out to undergraduate researchers!

Thanks to our Fall 2017-Spring 2018 undergraduate research assistants!

From left to right: We welcomed Ally Bennett and Keelyn O'Brien back from last year, and Morgan Fleck, Waseem Syed, and Blake Bezemek (not pictured) joined us this past fall. Keelyn, Morgan, and Blake are Professorial Assistants.

Ally is working with Keara Grady to study microbial interactions among core phyllosphere microbiome members from switchgrass, as part of a project with the Great Lakes Bioenergy Research Center.

Keelyn is working with John Chodkowski to understand evolved interactions, mediated by antibiotics, among two environmental bacterial strains: Burkholderia and Flavobacteria.

Morgan, Waseem, and Blake are working with Patrick Kearns and Nejc Stopnisek on Plant Resilience Institute projects to understand how phytobiomes can help plants withstand stress.
